BTEA: Exhibition World Bahrain signs agreement with IOTE Group to host two international exhibitions in May and September 2023

The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) signed an agreement with the Oman International Trade and Exhibitions (OITE) Group to host two international exhibitions in the Kingdom of Bahrain for the first time. The Global Higher Education Exhibition “GHEDEX Bahrain” is scheduled for the 6th-8th of May 2023, and the Information and Communication Technology ICT Exhibition “COMEX Bahrain”, which will be held on the 12th-14th of September 2023.

On the occasion, Chief Executive Officer of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority Dr. Nasser Qaedi stated that the authority is moving forward in consolidating all efforts to develop the MICE industry and attract exhibitions and conferences that support economic diversification and sustainability for the Kingdom.

Dr. Nasser added that hosting these exhibitions is aligned with the objectives of Bahrain Tourism’s Strategy 2022-2026, to establish Exhibition World Bahrain as an active and vital addition to the Kingdom’s remarkable development across all levels, and more specifically within the MICE industry.

Chief Executive of OITE Group, Mr. Amr Baabood, stated that the group is very passionate about technology and education, and is proud of the key role both “GHEDEX” and “COMEX” played in Oman and other countries where they were held. “Both exhibitions will have a clear and important imprint on the education, training and leadership industry, and will attract experts, stakeholders and decision makers in these sectors.”

He added that hosting these global events at Exhibition World Bahrain opens the door for investments in the academic, commercial and technology fields in the Kingdom, and contributes to developing these sectors, as well as attracting many similar events here.

Exhibition World Bahrain approached OITE to host “GHEDEX” in the Kingdom of Bahrain, following the company’s record in organizing successful exhibitions for over 20 years in Oman and several other countries, including Kuwait and India. The exhibition will be bringing 22 years of global higher education expo experience to Bahrain.

The exhibition is expected to bring together a number of local and international universities, institutions and colleges, as well as several training and rehabilitation centres from the higher education sector. The Global Higher Education Exhibition anticipates connecting with over 30,000 students, from Bahraini students to students from the Eastern Provence, Saudi Arabia and the rest of the GCC countries.

“GHEDEX” carries a global standing on multiple fronts within the sector including higher education, field specialisation and vocational training, building future skills, human resources development, and within global initiatives such as TrainEX, Schoolex, EdTech and the International Conference on Innovation and Entrepreneurship. It is a prime destination and a key event for investors in human development.

“COMEX Bahrain” showcases government innovations aiming to achieve the Kingdom’s goals in the ICT sector. It will provide a distinctive platform for the government to display key programs and initiatives aiming to develop young talents, human resource professionals and business leaders. This aims to bridge gaps and find solutions in various areas of the digital ecosystem. The exhibition will include start-ups, public and private sector organisations displaying their products, services and innovations in the ICT field.

Both “GHEDEX” and “COMEX” are aligned with strategic efforts to support achieving the Kingdom’s Economic Vision 2030 goals specific to the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) industry tourism and the entertainment sector. A step towards furthering Bahrain’s standing as a prime destination in the region for hosting various types of events.

This collaboration with OITE Group to host two international exhibitions for the first time in the Kingdom of Bahrain at the region’s newest exhibition and convention centre, is part of the venue’s objectives to host large-scale international events to benefit the Bahraini community and the region.
