The International Downstream Conference and Exhibition (IDCE 2025) marked a major milestone for the association events segment in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Held from 30 September to 2 October 2025 at Exhibition World Bahrain (EWB), the event returned for its third edition under the esteemed patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain. Led by the Gulf Downstream Association (GDA) – a non-profit organisation founded by leading regional energy companies including Aramco, Bapco Energies, KNPC, ADNOC, OQ, and KPI – IDCE 2025 brought together global downstream leaders, innovators, and decision-makers under the theme “Innovating Energy, Creating Sustainable Value”.

Association-led Success, Enabled by EWB

IDCE 2025 exemplifies how Exhibition World Bahrain partners with associations to elevate niche, knowledge-driven events into globally competitive platforms. From early planning stages through delivery, EWB worked closely with GDA to understand the conference’s technical depth, scale, and multi-stakeholder requirements. The event occupied an impressive 34,000 square metres of space across the Grand Hall (A ,B, C, D, E), Halls 2, 7, and 8, the pre-function area, 19 meeting rooms, and all VIP majlises – demonstrating EWB’s ability to seamlessly welcome complex, multi-format association events under one roof.

Global Reach and Industry Impact

IDCE 2025 welcomed participants from 53 countries with a robust programme curated by 75 committee members, featuring 188 expert speakers across 120 sessions. Over the three-day event, the conference and exhibition attracted approximately 9,000 visitors, with 3,000 attendees per day and hosted 150 exhibiting companies, showcasing cutting-edge technologies and solutions across refining, petrochemicals, energy management, digital transformation, and operational excellence. The conference agenda addressed the industry’s most pressing priorities, from decarbonisation and digitalisation to capital efficiency and workforce readiness - reinforcing Bahrain’s strategic role in shaping the future of the downstream energy sector.

Integrated Venue Support

EWB provided fully integrated, end-to-end support to ensure the seamless delivery of the event, enabling robust venue-wide Wi-Fi and live streaming, comprehensive culinary services for opening ceremonies, VIPs, and daily delegates, and strategic marketing and branding placements to maximise visibility. EWB also delivered professional AV and rigging solutions for high-quality presentations and ceremonies, maintained exceptional venue presentation standards through continuous cleaning and waste management, and ensured a safe environment with coordinated security, emergency medical services, and traffic management.
